Want to get certified but short on time? The Scuba Diver Course is a beginner-friendly scuba diving course on Gili Trawangan that gives you a recognised diving qualification in just 2 days.
This course is a great option if you want more than a try dive, but do not have enough time for the full Open Water Diver Course. You’ll learn basic dive theory, get familiar with scuba equipment, practise important skills in the pool, and complete two open water dives in the nearby dive sites around the Gili Islands.
Scuba Diver Course prerequisites
The Scuba Diver Course is designed for beginners, so you do not need any previous scuba diving experience. You should be:
- At least 10 years old and able to complete the required course theory and practical training
- Comfortable in the water
- Able to float or move in the water without assistance
- Medical questionnaire: if you are taking any medication or if you have had any heart, lung or ear problems you may need to have your doctor sign off before you can dive. This needs to be arranged before you arrive. Simply contact us for a questionnaire.
Important certification note
The Scuba Diver certification is different from the Open Water Diver certification. As a Scuba Diver, you are certified to dive to 12 metres under the direct supervision of a dive professional. You are not certified for independent buddy diving.
If you want to dive independently with a certified buddy to a maximum depth of 18 metres, the next step is the Open Water Diver Course.
What you’ll learn
- Knowledge development / theory
You’ll learn the basic dive theory needed for this certification level, including scuba equipment, safe diving habits, underwater communication, and what to expect during supervised dives. - Confined-water training / pool skills
You’ll practise important scuba skills in the pool before moving to open water. This helps you build confidence with the equipment, breathing underwater, and handling basic skills in a controlled environment. - Open-water training dives - 2 dives
You’ll complete two open-water training dives around Gili Trawangan, applying your skills in real diving conditions under instructor supervision. The maximum depth for this course is 12 metres. - Confidence to continue diving
By the end of the course, you’ll understand what it means to be a certified Scuba Diver and how to continue with supervised dives or upgrade to the full Open Water Diver Course.
How we teach
- Group size and supervision: We keep groups small and adjust ratios based on conditions and student needs.
- We keep training focused and calm. The goal is not to rush you. The goal is to help you feel comfortable enough to enjoy your first dives.
- Skills are repeated until you’re comfortable, and the pace is adjusted to the group.
- If you’re nervous about mask skills, equalising, or feeling “rushed,” tell us - these are common beginner concerns and we coach them step-by-step.
Photography & Videography
Want to remember your dive forever? Add professional underwater photography or videography to your experience. A dedicated photographer or videographer can join your dive to capture natural, high-quality photos or videos while you enjoy scuba diving in the Gili Islands. Prices vary depending on group size and availability, with packages starting from IDR 400,000 per person. Ask us when booking for the best option for your dive.
