Become a Divemaster at Manta Dive and take the first step in becoming a Diving Professional
The Manta Dive Divemaster program on Gili Trawangan is among the most popular on the island because it is the perfect combination of professional learning, loads of diving, as well just a plain old good time!
The Divemaster program is the first step into the Professional world of diving. It is the pre-requisite to become an Open Water Instructor but it is also just a great way to perfect your skills as a scuba diver. Once you’ve completed the Divemaster course you’ll be qualified to guide certified divers and start to work in some of the most beautiful parts of the world.
The program at Manta Dive on Gili Trawangan consists of various forms of academic workshops, open water lessons, course assisting and more. There are always other Divemaster Trainees starting their program or in the process, so you'll never be alone on the journey. Doesn't matter if you've got 100 dives or just 5, every program is designed around you and created to make you the best Divemaster possible.
At Manta Dive Gili T we have trained hundreds of Dive Master students and have realized that the perfect Divemaster is one who has developed their skills both inside as well as outside the water.
We strive to make sure our dive master candidates are well versed in every part of how a dive center runs. And to do that, you will experience that in our own dive shop on Gili Trawangan. You’ll learn not only about the basics of being a Divemaster but also become aware of environmental and conservation related factors of what we do in the water each and every day with our guests. And of course, we do it all while making sure there is lots of fun packed in-between.
The program can be done in various timelines and are all based on your needs and goals. The longer you stay and dive, the more valuable real-world experience you'll achieve as a dive professional.
You’ll cover the topics of roles & characteristics of a Manta Dive Gili T Divemaster, supervising diving activities, assisting in course, dive theory, physics of diving, equipment, decompression theory, the business of diving, and more
You will learn to prepare emergency management plans. You’ll also learn to how to prepare maps of our local dive sites around the Gilis to include useful details like depth, entry/exit and points of interest.
You’ll perfect all your confined water skills that you will have learned back in the Open Water Course days. You’ll develop the basic skills and also rescue skills at professional instructor level when it comes to demonstrations.
Towards the end, you’ll begin running student training sessions and guides under the direct supervision of our instructors here at Manta Dive Gili Trawangan.
There are two different ways to complete your Divemaster training here on the Gilis. The first is an accelerated program that takes between 4-6 weeks and completes the necessary requirements for the Divemaster certification in a shorter time frame.
The second is more an "internship style" course with our diving instructors and staff which can go for 8+ weeks. This version gets you more experience with dives and training and is super useful for those who want to potentially go on to complete their Instructor Training Course.
Divemaster courses can be split over multiples visits to Gili T as well as sometimes people do not have enough time off to get it all done at once.
